One of Laredo’s advertising agencies has won several national accolades for its community work and service. And agency executives said advertising is hugely important because it improves the business community it represents.

Recently, PMDG Marketing Communications – the Laredo company that provides full-service local advertising services – was recognized by the Advertising Federation of America at its annual American Advertising Awards. The agency has received five ADDY awards, including three Gold ADDYS for projects representing several local and regional businesses and organizations.

The two award recipients, AB Barrera and Paco Barrientos, spoke a few words and also highlighted how advertising continues to be a major springboard for all types of businesses.

“We are extremely excited and honored to have received five ADDY Awards this year,” the two said in a joint statement. “While we have received ADDYS in the past, this is the first time we have received ADDYS Gold. This reaffirms our commitment to building strong brands and successful campaigns for our clients.

The five awards presented to the men and their agency included:

Laredo Mask Coalition’s “Keep it on Laredo” Campaign – Gold ADDY for Best Integrated Media Public Service Campaign.

Laredo Mask Coalition “Keep it on Laredo” Logo – Gold ADDY for Ad Elements and Best Logo Design.

AAF Rio Grande Valley “ADDYS Online” – Gold ADDY for Best Advertising Industry Self-Promotion.

Webb County Heritage Foundation “Dining Under Seven Flags” – ADDY Bronze for their Cross-Platform – Best Integrated Advertising Campaign

Consumer Campaign Local and AAF Rio Grande Valley “ADDYS Online” – Judge’s Special Award for Best Pandemic Solution.

Although the co-CEOs are former ADDY Award winners – having received more than 15 ADDYS over the years – this is the first time that local advertising leaders have received gold ADDYS. The achievement also marks the first time Laredo residents have been honored with a GOLD ADDY award from the American Advertising Federation.

“We hope to continue to provide our innovative ideas to local and regional businesses and help their businesses succeed,” Barrera said. “We love Laredo, and our priority is to ensure that local businesses and their brands are professionally marketed and marketed. We love what we do and want to be able to put Laredo and South Texas on the map when it comes to marketing and advertising.

Barrera and Barrientos say that one of the reasons they were rewarded for their hard work has to do with the fact that this local agency understands the people of Laredo, the way they communicate, and most importantly, how to reach the most vulnerable populations in Laredo. the city.

“We’re from here and we understand the culture and our unique language of comfort,” Barrera said. “We want the community to realize that we have creative and talented professionals here at home who can help them grow and succeed.”

Barrera and company say that advertising isn’t the only true form of communication out there, as there are many ways to communicate things between people to achieve greater things together.

“Advertising is just one form of communication,” the CEOs said in a joint statement. “Communication is more crucial today than ever. Consumers receive information 24/7 on their mobile devices, smartphones, via email and through their social media platforms, not to mention other traditional forms of advertising which still play a vital role in the reinforcement of a marketing message.

According to Barrera, companies need to stay relevant to their audience and communicate effectively and consistently in order to stay in the game.

“They need to invest in quality advertising and production campaigns in order to stay competitive,” Barrera said. “Companies that don’t will not survive.”

Although Barrera and Barrientos expressed great support for their accomplishments, they both said that nothing could be done without their great team who helped their ad agency shine and become a fixture in the community.

“We are proud of our team and their accomplishments, and we are grateful to our customers who trust us,” the duo said in a joint statement. “We thank them for giving us creative freedom and allowing us to bring their vision to life.”
